MaruCHOT and JW Marriott Bangkok Enhance Partnership to Elevate Student Internship Experiences
MaruCHOT School and JW Marriott Bangkok have strengthened their long-standing collaboration by offering Thai and international students a three-month internship program in Food and Beverage Service. This initiative builds upon previous successes and represents a significant step in developing practical skills and experience within the global hospitality industry. It aligns with MaruCHOT's vision of continuously improving its curriculum to meet the demands of the international job market, particularly in food and beverage service aboard cruise ships and in 4-5 star hotels.
On October 18, 2024, Mr. Edward Garzon, Principal of MaruCHOT School, and his team visited JW Marriott Bangkok. This visit served not only to coordinate the internship program but also to exchange ideas and receive feedback from JW Marriott's management and human resources teams, specifically Mr. Pawaris Akvanich (Training Manager) and Mr. Wisarut Plia-Arun (Assistant Training and Innovation Manager), during a meeting at 11:00 AM in the hotel's conference room. The aim was to enhance educational standards to meet industry needs and effectively address the requirements of key stakeholders like JW Marriott.
This intensive three-month internship program covers essential skills such as restaurant service, beverage service, wine service, coffee service, and comprehensive F&B knowledge. Students also gain experience in a professional environment, develop their personalities, and build valuable networks within the hospitality industry, leading to potential employment opportunities both domestically and internationally, including on cruise ships.
MaruCHOT has designed a comprehensive "240-hour International Food & Beverage Service Program," taught intensively in English by native-speaking instructors. This prepares students for international communication and employment, including the Marlins Test. The curriculum covers restaurant service, beverage service, wine service, coffee service, general F&B knowledge, basic English, English for service, and English for the Marlins Test.
The internship focuses on practical experience in relevant areas such as customer service in restaurants, food and beverage serving, coffee preparation, and bar support. This ensures students gain hands-on experience and develop their skills fully. The intensive English language training equips students for international employment, particularly those with weaker English skills. Continuous practice enhances their English proficiency for service and the Marlins Test.
MaruCHOT and JW Marriott Bangkok have collaboratively planned for the internship's success, discussing key aspects such as program details, student supervision, performance evaluation, long-term collaboration, and post-internship employment opportunities. This ensures students receive a high-quality and beneficial internship experience.
Both Thai and international students are welcome to apply for the "240-hour International Food & Beverage Service Program." MaruCHOT is committed to elevating education and developing professional waiters/waitresses to international standards.
The strong partnership between MaruCHOT and JW Marriott Bangkok serves as an excellent example of creating educational and employment opportunities for Thai youth and raising the nation's educational standards.
